We grew up with antiques and unique homewares. Our Mothers are both avid op shoppers and collectors – something they passed on to both of us. When Harrison and I first met, we bonded over our love of old things and the thrill of hunting op shops that are ready for a new home. I was living in Newtown and he Enmore and on our days off we would go to Sydney’s antique shops, op shops and tips collecting. I never would have thought that six years later those treasures we collected would now be sitting proudly in our very own home which we are lucky enough to share with people. I think our house has been so greatly embraced because of the unique charm and character of the pieces that make up the home. I am proud to say that over 90% of the pieces in this little cottage have been purchased at antique shops, op shops or passed down from family. We strongly advocate for old over new, both for the planet and for our style. I was once asked what my dream job was and I answered to be able to op shop, collect and style for people. Fast forward a few years and I was offered a job doing just that. On my days off, I am always collecting and searching for props (which take up too much room in our shed!) that I can use for jobs, use in the house, sell on our website or save for our next project. One of my favourite things is the thrill I get when I have found a treasure tucked away on a shelf and the feeling of being able to give something new life. I am a collector.
